Our contribution to creating and supporting vibrant, fun and informative events is invaluable to our communities. From large festivals to casual clubsevents are a great way to enjoy the Welsh language. The Mentrau Iaith are pleased to announce the 3 shortlisted events for the Mentrau Iaith Awards;

Tafwyl – Menter Caerdydd 

Tafwyl is a major annual Welsh language festival and celebration in our capital city. The festival is a proud and confident celebration of our culture at its best, and a means of using the Welsh language naturally in an informal and inclusive environment, attracting almost 40,000 people to the event in 2019. 

Sesh Sŵn – Menter Iaith  Castell Nedd Port Talbot 

The Sesh Sŵn is a Welsh folk session, and an opportunity for people of all ages, linguistic and musical abilities to meet in an informal setting to play traditional and popular music. With Sesh Fach also an opportunity for beginner instrumentalists to learn the songs, there is an opportunity for everyone to develop a skill as well as practice the language. 

Parti Ponty – Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf 

Parti Ponty is a Welsh language festival for everyone, showcasing a mixture of performers from the area, and beyond, which has expanded to events across 5 locations in the county in 2019. With various activities, entertainment, workshops, and stalls promoting the Welsh language – young people are at the heart of the event with over 100 of them volunteerig during the festival.
