Presenting Heledd and Marged
Heledd and Marged have joined Iwan Hywel to create the Mentrau Iaith Cymru team. Marged shares the Llanrwst office with Iwan while Heledd is based at Yr Atom, Carmarthen’s Welsh Language Centre. Heledd began her work with Mentrau Iaith Cymru in February, 2017 with Marged starting two weeks later.
Heledd ap Gwynfor
Heledd hails from Dyffryn Tywi in Carmarthenshire, receiving her early education in Tal y Bont near Aberystwyth and in Cwmann, Llanbed and her secondary education at Dyffryn Teifi, Gŵyr and Ystalyfera Schools. She taught English in China for two years with the VSO, and after returning to Wales worked with the local paper project with Antur Teifi. Recently she worked for Tro’r Trai, running a seaside shop and holiday accommodation in Trethaith, Ceredigion and Tenby, Pembrokeshire. Heledd now lives in Carmarthen with her husband Rhys and their son Meredydd Prys.
Marged has recently returned to Caernarfon after working for two years at Mela communications agency in Cardiff and studying music at Bristol University. Some of the mentrau audiences may recognise her as one of the band Plu, who have been entertaining in a few festivals for the last four years. She’s also busy playing hockey for Caernarfon Ladies, as part of the Caernarfon Food Festival communications committee and as the Young People Editor for her local community paper, Eco’r Wyddfa.
